About Icontact

Icontact was founded in 1993 by Huub van de Pol and became a private company in 2006 when Alexander van Meerten joined as CTO. Icontact is a #booktech and #pubtech software company and technology provider specialised in custom tools for the book and publishing industry. Over the years, Icontact specialised in developing bespoke applications for the specific requirements of books, ebooks, and audiobooks metadata, aggregation, distribution, and fulfilment.

By combining thorough knowledge of trade specifics and open standards with state of the art software solutions, Icontact became one of the few dedicated technology providers for publishers, distributors, (econtent) retailers and libraries in the Netherlands and Belgium. Icontact received worldwide acknowledgement for their prizewinning BooXtream ebook watermarking and personalisation service. Since the introduction in 2011, BooXtream is used worldwide by hundreds of publishers selling ebooks direct to consumers.

In 2018, Icontact introduced their second in-house developed technology platform for publishers and retailers, this time with the focus on audiobooks: Audiyence. Audiyence is a white label audiobook app platform, offering native audiobook apps for a fraction of the price of bespoke development. Audiyence is already being used by several audiobook retailers and publishers selling D2C.
